Breakthrough

'Breakthrough' is the first piece in my debut series, a collection that spans two years of work. 

This artwork holds a special place in my heart.

At the time I painted this, I felt that life was much like waves in an angry ocean. Turbulent and chaotic, I felt myself constantly being thrown under the surface, fighting for gasps of air. 

Something, though, was beautiful about the waves and my complete lack of control. My body and my mind were tired. It was time to let go. 

This was the storm before the breakthrough.

Trusting there would be another side, I knew I would come out of it eventually, resurgent.
